This is a useful aid in researching Native American life across thousands of miles and thousands of years of territory, extensively mapped and illustrated, and including a solid bibliography. I checked this out from the library to research a specific time, place, and culture, but it's only one of the many. A good antidote to too much history that treats anything in the Americas before 1492 as mere prologue to the European conquest.
