Is there a fourth dimension in which a human being may be able to see his fellow-men, to watch their actions, to feel as though he himself were participating, yet be unable to touch them, hear them, or communicate with them? What happens to us after death? Are there ghosts? Round these questions H. G. Wells has written fifteen tales, which, with gathering momentum, finally overwhelm us in a torrent of logical, seemingly convincing facts. The author, who has obviously pondered deeply the problem of the supernatural, leaves the reader to judge for himself the credibility of the tales.
