KIRKUS REVIEW

Off to a start with a Cosmo serialization, a fat movie purchase, and publ pressure, this is primarily a good story, without much benefit of characterization, style or sublety. Dealing again with the Americans occupying Germany, it concerns Major Robert Lashley, his fight for personal probity and the woman he loves against policy and procedure. As prosecutor in the trial of Nazi Steigmann, Lashley gets a tal conviction but during the trial is fascinated by the only witness to defend Steigmann- French born Themis Delisle. Refusing to believe her dossier of treason and ca oration, Lashley falls in love with Themis, refuses to turn her over to the French ities for trial, defies superior authority, comes to doubt the validity of the trial the verdict, but eventually gets his vindication of Themis... The romantic, dramatic values here should make this fairly popular, in sales and certainly rentals.
